Women And Child Development

The Department of Women and Child Development is one of the major departments implementing various programs for women and child development in the district, empowering women economically, socially, politically and culturally. Implementing various schemes, policies and regulations set by the solid government for the development of women and children.

  • Emphasis is placed on training and awareness of mothers and Adolescent girls on supplementary nutritional food, informal pre-school education, health and nutrition, as well as setting the foundation for the universal development of children 0-6 years.
  • Preventing child marriage and raising awareness of the impact of child marriage
  • Preventing trafficking of women and children.
  • Assistance and rehabilitation of women who have no family / social support, no income, and are vulnerable to condemnation.
  • Providing services to support women and children through a network of government / voluntary organizations.
  • Implementing women’s economic empowerment schemes through the WDC.
  • Implementation of dynamic, creative and entertaining programs for the creative talents of the children through the child development academy and district Bala Bhavan.

Department Scope

In 7 Taluks of the Dist. 7 ICDS Projects, 2460 Anganwadi centers, 2038 own buildings, 7 Santwana centers, 29 Creches, 2 Swadhar Gruhas, 1 Govt. Girls Home, 1 Govt. Boys Home, 1 Ujwala Center, 1 State Home for women, Special Adoption Agency, 1 Sakhi One Stop Center are operating.
